About

R I C H I E P O P E

Growing up in Newport News VA, I played outside in neighborhoods of odd characters, patchy grass, abandoned lots and forgotten alleyways. I played inside with American and Japanese cartoon shows, comic books and video games. As I document both life and imagination in my sketchbook, my work intertwines the world around me with the world inside my head.

                                                                   Willamette Rising

Light Grey Art Lab invited me to be a part of their exhibition “Night of the Exquisite Corpse” a 50-Artist, Paper Toy Project & Exhibition curated by Adam Hoppus and Chris Schons. Every piece in the show can be disconnected and the body parts can be recombined with any other piece to create exquisite corpses. Willamette Rising is an ode to Dead Rising, an open-world video game about a zombie invasion in a shopping mall that takes place in the fictional town of Willamette, CO. The die line will be displayed on the gallery walls alongside the assembled toy. Prints of will be also be sold at the gallery and their online store.
