R I C H I E P O P E

Growing up in Newport News VA, I played outside in neighborhoods of odd characters, patchy grass, abandoned lots and forgotten alleyways. I played inside with American and Japanese cartoon shows, comic books and video games. As I document both life and imagination in my sketchbook, my work intertwines the world around me with the world inside my head.

                                                                  Heinrich Himmler’s Bell

Another one for Light Grey Art Lab’s Tarot, Mystics and the Occult Exhibition. Die Glocke (also known as “The Nazi Bell”) is a bit of folklore about a Nazi UFO with occult markings. Some say that it was a super-weapon while others say it was a time machine with a mirror on the top that could see into the past. Although that is all speculation, Heinrich Himmler, Hitler’s second-in-command, was actually interested into mysticism and the occult. If the bell did exist, it probably would have been Heinrich Himmler’s to pilot.
